So I'm sure we all can agree 2020 kicked our ass. That's not to say that we didn't have some wins, achievements and proud moments though. Now that we are in full swing of 2021 I think it's time we reflect on those New Year goals and determine if those things are what you really want. If they are, how consistent have we been about obtaining them?
For me I have not been doing a good job keeping up with my physical goals, though I've been doing amazing in obtaining my financial goals. My health had been thrown on the back burner and I know better. If you don't take care of your body, it won't take care of you. I actually had to take a break to just sleep. If you burn yourself out it won't matter how much money you have because you won't be able to enjoy it and spend it how you would like to. You should workout, you should stay up to work on your goals, but never forget to rest.
My goal for this quarter has been to do some deep, deep Spring cleaning and reorganizing. Ever since the tree crashed through my house, things have not been the same. We lived in an AirBNB for eight months and moving back in has been a huge adjustment. We have a new baby who has taken over my second work area and has decided he needs a nursery. What happened to those days where babies just slept in an open drawer? Lol, I'm kidding! So, we now we have new furniture, our old stuff and I'm attempting to restructure my work area (where I make merch) into the dining room. This has been a huge task and I'm finally getting things together. Make sure you are subscribed to my YouTube channel because I will be sharing a before and after of the chaos.
Another thing that I am taking serious this season is developing a realistic schedule. We need things to go a bit more smoothly around this house and the lack of a great schedule is what's been holding me back. Do you need to work on your schedule? It starts at home! What do you do when you wake up before you get ready for work or get the kids ready for school? How much time do you spend with yourself? How do you prioritize your goals and when do you work on making them a reality? Make a schedule for not just your day but your week too. With many kids still homeschooling it is important that they too have a schedule and routine so that they can get the rest and activity they need to thrive. On my Youtube channel I'll be sharing my tips for successful rising and bedtime routines.
Spring has always been the season of having a clean mind and a clean home, this year I want it to last longer than four weeks. The reason that so many fail at keeping up with the cleaning after the initial deep clean is the same reason we fail at sticking to our New Years Resolution's, we aren't committed. Though we accept the challenge for a short period of time, we eventually give up and tell ourselves that we will "try again next year". But why? It's because our why isn't big enough, strong enough to make changes to our habits long term. Instead of telling yourself you want to clean "because it's Spring", tell yourself you want to clean because you "work better in a clean house". Adjusting your why will make a huge difference in whether you accomplish something for a few weeks or keep it going for a lifetime.
So take a moment to reflect. What are your goals for the season and what are you going to do to make them a reality? Let's make 2021 a year to remember, one goal at a time!
